Focused + Fabulous

As “5 Facts about me” have been circling Instagram like crazy and making me feel like I’m on a deeper level with everyone I follow (when I am clearly not) I thought about revamping this question.

So here are my answers to the questions I get the most about. My job. Cuz clearly no one cares about my life facts but more so my job facts haha.

Sweet Cabo

My getaway to Cabo was short and sweet. I knew I wanted to go somewhere hot and not too far so it was either Mexico or Hawaii, but Hawaii would have cost me an arm and a leg so Mexico it was. I looked at a couple resorts and contemplated if I should book online on my own or through an travel agency. I ended up booking my trip at Flight Centre in Richmond Centre with Lance. I had a bunch of Christmas gift cards to the mall so I used those towards my trip. Flight Centre also price matches deals you find online. After going on this trip I am 100% happy that I booked through the travel agency, and I will tell you just why.

Becoming a Digital Nomad?

What is a Digital Nomad?
Living the Digital Nomad Lifestyle means relying on the internet to financially sustain a modern nomadic life. This relatively new trend allows you to become location independent and constantly move between cities as countries while working remotely.

This type of lifestyle has definitely crossed my mind more than once and was one of the very reasons why I decided to leave my 9-5 office job. The thought of travel excites me and so does my job, so why not combine the two?

Travel Junkie – Asia

This Asia trip is the first big trip I have taken since being self-employed, and it was such a great experience. From the food to the people I have nothing bad to say at all (and thank the lord that I did not get food poisoning … AGAIN!)

To begin, this seasons tickets to Asia were at such a great price especially when the weather there still felt like summer. I flew with HK airlines and it cost me $560 for an RT from YVR to HKG. The upside was that the ticket was cheap, however, the flight there and back didn’t have a TV screen nor did they have a USB port to charge your electronics. They provided iPads, but I guess I can’t complain if the tickets were so cheap.

Trip duration: 16 Days
Trip total cost: $2,500
Cities visited: 4
Favourite destinations: Ho Chi Minh + Hong Kong

Check yo tits.

Do not take your tits for granted. They may cause you pain and soreness when the time of the month rolls around, but they can also help you skip the line at the club or get you a couple free drinks from time to time (you know you’ve still got it!).

It is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I want to encourage all of you ladies to get your breasts examined. I’m going to share with you something very raw and real and hopefully leave you very grateful for your boobies, and also encourage you to check them and get them checked!

When I was 18 years old, I found a lump in my right boob. I instantly felt like there was something wrong with me and that I was going to die. That same year I got a biopsy which means they basically took a needle and sucked some of that lump out to test it. (This hurt like a bitch and my mom could hear me swearing at the doctor from 3 doors down)

Results: Benign. So I didn’t get it taken out.

Age 20 and I found another lump. Freaked out. Got an ultrasound to see if it looked like the last lump and if it did (shape + size) then I wouldn’t need to take it out and can just monitor it to make sure it doesn’t grow.

It grew. It grew to almost the size of a golf ball. Yes, a god damn golf ball I do not kid you. If you’re trying to imagine a golf ball right now and saying “holy shit” in your head… so was I but 10x worse lol.

Everyday up until I got my surgery I felt like there was definitely something wrong with me, or that I had breast cancer. I felt super insecure when my boyfriend and I got intimate and he touched my boobs. I was scared that it would make him feel uncomfortable and not want to touch me or have anything to do with me.

February 2016 I finally got surgery on my right boob to have the lump that had been growing taken out. This procedure was painless (cuz I was knocked out) and I had a super fast recovery.

Results: Benign, but if I have another lump it could be cancerous. (scary ass shit)

I recently found another lump and this time its on my left side. I went in for an ultrasound last Wednesday and I am waiting for my results now.. fingers crossed everything’s A-OK.

As you are checking, just know that if you do think you’ve found something to not panic and freak out. One thing I have learned is to stay calm because I have heard that stress can sometimes cause lumps. Also never assume, so go make an appointment with your doctor and get an ultrasound.

Below I’ve put together a few tips I found online on how to check a lump.

I know this is a very personal subject to speak out about and I just want to put it out there that this kinda thing happens to a handful of women and I am here to best answer any of your questions if you have any. So if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me. I do have certain foods that I refrain from eating so if you would like to know more about my diet leave me a comment!

Leaving the nine-to-five.

I just finished running a quick work errand before I headed back to the office and I see a girl walking on the street with her Lululemon yoga mat in one hand and a cold-pressed juice in the other.

My exact thoughts, “It’s 11 in the fucking morning… does she not have a job? I bet she’s heading home right now to make herself a post-workout avocado on toast.”

I need her job.

The scene I just described to you happened to me about half a year ago. No joke, and was one of the moments that made me realize that I needed to leave my 9-5. Let me just start off by saying that I didn’t hate my job. I loved my job but I needed a change in environment and more growth because it started to feel like the same shit, different pile.

Event Prep

A lot of times people ask me how the heck I have time to manage 7 social media accounts, work a full-time job and attend events. Tbh, sometimes idk how I function with close to no downtime. But, nonetheless, I make each event I attend worth my while.

Attending events is crucial to my career (for anyone in PR tbh #realtalk) for not only networking but learning purposes. Often times after an event I feel rejuvenated and refreshed; usually from a shift in mindset, learning something new, or a good kick in the butt kind of reminder of some sort.
